Q Students are required to prepare a 10-15 page paper (double spaced) examining a conflict utilizing the concepts presented in class and discussed in readings. Papers should include a list of references using an appropriate format. It will be important to make use of additional sources as well. These papers should demonstrate an understanding of the basis and dynamics of the conflict and include procedural recommendations for how to address it. The purpose is NOT to offer suggestions on an actual resolution (as partly it is important to learn the conflict resolution is not all about “a solution”). These conflicts can be intra- or extra-organizational. No personal conflicts. You are expected to have an approved topic and outline by the fourth week of class at the very latest (and no earlier than three weeks as you simply won’t have enough materials yet to think about framing conflict). Final papers are due by the last day to submit for your section. See page 3 for dates by section. A paper deserving an “A” grade will demonstrate a working knowledge of the course materials with a clear, correct application of course concepts as well as demonstrate quality writing. A “B” grade will have some minor flaws in one of the above. A “C” grade will have significant issues with one or more of the above. A grade below “C” (“D” or “F”) will be based major issues with two or more the above.
